Picture this: you're in court to see your cousin being sentenced on a drugs charge, you yawn and you're charged with contempt of court and jailed for six months. This is the true story of what happened to Clifton Williams (yawner). Judge Daniel Rozak was not very impressed when Clifton let loose with a very audible expression, and was only too happy to charge him with contempt of court. After he was jailed, Rozak dragged Williams into court for a lecture on courtroom ettiquette in which he told Williams that he wasn't in custody for simply yawning but for making a sound "that was offensive to the court."
Thankfully, Clifton has been since freed, so the sentence of six month didn't hold. I hope this experience has taught him to exercise discretion when yawning or producing any other offensive "loud and boisterous" noises.
