An interesting story of crime gone wrong, because the criminal is not very intelligent and shoots himself in the foot. Not literally of course, but he managed to foil his own operation. Jarell Paul Arnold walked into the Federal Credit Union branch in Anchorage, Alaska and enquired about his account balance; he gave the teller his name, account number and ID. So far, this is a straightforward banking story; I'm sure millions of people check their account balance every day and it is quite a standard enquiry to make. However, what makes this story even more interesting is that Jarrell then tried to rob the establishment!
He handed over a reciept to the teller and on the back he wrote that he had a gun and demanded money. Not a very smart move, although I do admire his courage. He made off with a modest 600 in cash, but he was never going to get far. Jarell had also been done for bank robbery when he got 57 months, which would mean that he just got out only to go back in again. Perhaps he wanted to go back in jail because he couldn't cope with life outside. In that case, it doesn't seem so stupid.
