I know kung fu!

Okay well not really, but fans of the Matrix will get the reference. In the movie, people can learn things very quickly by plugging into the matrix, and even download whole tomes of knowledge directly to their brain! I find this idea very exciting and I'm sure it's already possible in some unknown way. I would like to learn guitar, and the idea that I could simply load a program that would make me a virtuoso in about two minutes is very appealing.

This is the cutting edge of educational technology! There is some talk about it over in England. The chief executive of the Independent School Council reckons that this technology will be in operation in 20 years time!!! He says that 'said "Matrix-style" technology would render traditional lessons obsolete.' [Telegraph UK]

I think that it's absolutely something that we can do and should do if we're really serious about seeing what humans are capable of. With this kind of technology, it will make it easier for people to learn about everything they want to, without having to study for years.

QUOTE: '"Within 30 years, sitting down and learning something will be a thing of the past."' [Telegraph UK]

Hey man, nice work with the blog, been waiting awhile for some new stuff. You put together some really interesting material and write about it so well.

Yeah instant learning would be cool hey, I mean the smarter we get surely the closer we get to discovering the meaning of life. The only downside I could see would be the missing sense of accomplishment. I mean when you learn a new skill your proud of yourself because it took time and effort and if you could instantly learn to play an instrument you would probably take it for granted. And if everyone in the world were a master violinist no one would care how good you were. We would all be the same like robots, there would be no talented people.
