Sustainable Living

Is this your ideal home? I would love to live in something like this. No, it's not one of the houses in the shire from Lord of the Rings, although it looks very much like it. The builder says in an interview "Everyone says it is a hobbit house, they all love the lord of the rings at the moment.I think Tolkien draws the hobbits as the naïve or innocent representation of humans in a wholesome natural state. People instictively relate to this, especially in the context of modernity."

It's a family home in Wales. It's sustainable organic living in nature, and it's got a compost toilet! Now if you know me, you know I'm a sucker for a good compost toilet. This isn't just living close to nature, it's living in nature.

"We are all a part of nature unquestionably, we are animals of the earth. What remains is how see ourselves in relation to the rest of that living system. We can honour and celebrate it for its own innate value. Alternatively we can value it as a resource for our use."

Visit the website see all the amazing pictures of this wondrous dwelling. There's also lots fascinating info to be found.

This is the shiznit. If they are done properly you can create really cool low impact homes that aren't dirty and smelly. There is no way you could live here and not pretend your in the lord of the rings.
